As a child Kate did theatre, made potions in nearby woods and rode her bike all around Martha’s Vineyard Island, where she grew up.

In 1991, Kate graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BA in English and set out to see the world. By her mid twenties, she had had many adventures, including being rescued at sea in a hurricane, traveling to Papua New Guinea with the Peace Corps, and living aboard a small sailboat.

It was through the experiences of living simply and meeting people from many walks of life that Kate became more interested in the visual expression of ideas. So she went back to school and graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2001. Ever since then, she has worked as a freelance illustrator and designer just outside of Providence, Rhode Island, where she lives with her family.
